KM R3: Those Who Serve (2), PG Rating: PG Word Count: 257 Pairing: Kel/Maura Round/Fight: 3/B Summary: Those that serve have their own set of tales to tell. Tian Oh, aye. I knew what was about before it even really began. I’m observant, certainly, but I had a personal interest in knowing who the Lady Knight was bedding. It’s not that I don’t trust my girl, mind you - but a common born maid is only so immune to knightly charms, and my Lalasa was more susceptible to fanciful notions that most. I needn’t have feared - this particular knight was either immune or oblivious to the adoring looks thrown her way. Don’t mistake my meaning - Just because I knew what was about doesn’t mean I expected it. I’d taken her to be the kind that liked large men straddling chargers, all glistening armor and gleaming teeth. As far as I could tell, she was all caught up in the Masbolle lad and on her way to heartache. He had a taste for petit little things. Silks and sighs. Seamstresses know the type. I know them better than most. Turns out I was wrong, on several counts. Maybe she’d been lovers with him at some point, or maybe they were just old friends from the war. I don’t know. The Lady’s hard to read sometimes, and skittish as a yearling. But the one that caught her heart wasn’t some hulking, handsome brute on a charger, but a mischievous, plain duchess, trailing ogres and wolves in her wake. I won’t lie - I rested easier seeing her follow Maura around like a lovesick squire. Lalasa was glum for a bit, but I’ve always been able to talk my girl around. QC by: journeycat

Your third paragraph set my brain on fire because it was so gods-cursed perfect. I love that you addressed the canon - that Kel *does* like the flashy men with perfect teeth and chargers - but you then ease it into something perfect. Amazingly done, Meg!

*flail* I love this! So much! Tian's voice is so fascinating, and I just love this look at Kel from such different sources.
J'adore! ♥
