Title: Lyric Rating: PG Word Count: 202 Pairing: Kel/Maura Round/Fight: 3/B Summary: The Lady Maura has expectations. And a repertoire.
SINCE first I saw your face I resolved...
“You always look at me,” Kel mused from the bed, “As if you expect me to join in.”
“Hmmm?” Maura shifted, small hands reaching to draw pale yellow curtains.
“You sing, and it is all things lovely, except that then you look at me as if I’m supposed to just slide underneath with—”
“At least a token attempt at harmony, darling. Yes.” The Lady of Dunlath settled solidly onto the bed and examined Kel’s back, spanning patterns made from her hands and the other woman’s skin. “I resolved to honour and re-now-n you...”
“No!” Kel laughed softly. “You know I can’t—mmph.” Fingers tapped sharply against her lips.
“What?” Maura smirked. “I that loved and you that liked, shall we begin to wrangle?”
There was something in the eyebrow raise accompanying this lyric that set Kel blushing steadily. “I’ll cursed wrangle if you keep—”
“No,” the smaller woman carolled lightly, pushing Kel back now and resting her sleek brown head against her chest. “No—no, no: my heart is fast, and cannot—”
“—dis-en-taa-n-gle,” said Kel, with loving flatness, twining their hands.
“There,” said Maura, grinning. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”

Kit, this is utterly delightful! I adore the idea of Maura enjoying singing.

As much as I love Maura singing, I love Kel's inability even more. Which makes sense, since the only time she sings in the canon it's very soft and almost self-conscious. Love this, kit!
