Title: Her Father’s Eyes Rating: PG Word Count: 186 Pairing: Kalasin/Wyldon Fight: 1C Summary: Part of “Out of Nothing at All” - Wyldon has to accept Kalasin, and what she means to his complicated life.
She has her father’s piercing blue eyes, and dark hair that could be the product of either parent. She looks like her brother did when he was a baby; but seeing young Prince Roald doesn’t make his stomach twist in discomfort. Prince Roald was born before Wyldon had become close to his mother.
“May I hold her?” Vivenne asks, and takes the small child in her arms. Vivenne is the image of the blessed Mother herself, cradling the infant close to her breast. “She’s precious, Thayet.”
“She is,” Wyldon said gruffly. It was easier to compliment the beauty of the princess royale than it was to accept the rush of jealousy he felt whenever he saw her proud father’s smile. When he was reminded just whose bright blue eyes she had.
He shook his head, wishing for the hundredth time that day that Vivenne and Thayet were not such good friends that their children might grow up playing together. That he would not be invited into the queen’s quarters again. That he would not have to see this tiny little girl and wish she’d never existed.

AHHHH, yes! I love your "Out of Nothing at All" series, and that you managed to write something set in that is just excellent, as is this piece itself!
