Title: I'm Sailing Right Behind Rating: G Word Count: 112 Pairing: Gary/Raoul Round/Fight: 1/E Summary: Raoul comforts Gary pre-Tusaine War
“Is he alright?”
Gary looked up. “His leg is broken. He won't be going with us.” He sighed quietly. “And Jon?”
Raoul sat down next to his friend. “He isn't mad. He understands.”
“I shouldn't have--”
“Are you alright?” Raoul interrupted. “Jon is Alan's problem right now. I want to know about you.”
“I'm fine.” Gary's response was automatic. “You don't need to worry about....” He trailed off. Raoul kept looking at him, holding eye contact, and Gary wilted. “I'm scared, okay?” he whispered. “I...wanted him to be there.”
Raoul moved a bit closer. “I'll be there.” His voice was small and quiet.
“I know.” Gary's smile was genuine. “It helps.”

Ooh, I love this. It's adorable and sweet with the right hint of sadness around the edges. And I never thought how Gary would feel about his father not being able to be with him in his first battles. That's a really interesting idea.
