Title: Certain Holidays
Rating: PG
Word Count: 360
Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains
Round/Fight: 1E
Summary: AU: Certain holidays scare Raoul...Central Corus High School is not your normal high school, not with Gary and Raoul wreaking havoc in it... (based on prompts from MLIA.)
Raoul was happy for exactly five minutes (which was surprising in and of itself, since it was before 10 am and he was not know to be a morning person) after arriving at school.
Precisely five minutes later, as he stowed his varsity letter jacket in his locker, a panicked Gary accosted him, bombarding him with questions like, “What restaurants are good for first dates?...What should I wear?...oh gods, should I get her something?...What should I get her?... RAOUL!”
Raoul took a deep breath in, deeply regretting that he was too big to climb into his locker after his jacket, and turned to face a verging-on-hysterical Gary.
“What, Gary?”
Oh. Perhaps that wasn’t the best way to begin this conversation. Gary purpled, eyes bugging out. “Raoul, didn’t you hear anything I just said? I need to get Cythera a Valentine for when I take her out later; what should I get her?”
Rolling his eyes, Raoul asked forlornly, “Why are you asking me?”
“Oh, come on,” a very desperate Gary protested, “since you made football captain, you’ve got all sorts of girls climbing over themselves to get to you; you gotta help me out!”
“I make no promises,” Raoul warned Gary, but he doubted Gary heard him as he nodded fast enough that Raoul was concerned the other teen’s head would come off.
“First, erm…” Raoul scrunched his eyes as he recalled Gary’s demands. “Absolutely do not take her to the Dove. I don’t care, that’s where we always go, but do. Not. Take her there.”
Gary rummaged around for paper and a pen, noting this down. Raoul felt rather sorry for Cythera, unwittingly dating a mad man. “Get her flowers. Flowers are safe, and romantic, see?”
Raoul almost forgot the last thing he had wanted to mention, but one other look at Gary’s frantic face reminded him. “Oh, and Gary?”
His tone paused Gary mid-scribble. “What?”
“You need to shave. There’s something atrocious growing on your upper lip.”
Gary’s hand went instantly to his face. “Oh, er… yes. Oh, um…”
“Don’t want to scare her off!” Raoul remarked cheerfully into the sudden quiet, and took the opportunity to escape.
