Title: Chemistry Class
Rating: PG
Word Count: 553
Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains
Round/Fight: 1E
Summary: AU: Now they're in chemistry...Central Corus High School is not your normal high school, not with Gary and Raoul wreaking havoc in it... (based on prompts from MLIA.)
There were several signs that chemistry class was going to be better than usual today. First, Delia was absent, meaning Gary wouldn’t have to stomach another period of the brunette falling all over Jon, again.
Second, he knew that the teacher was in today, meaning that Roger had no reason totorture Gary substitute teach this lesson.
Third, there were items at the lab stations around the room. And that could only mean one thing…
“Dibs on us as lab partners,” Raoul dropped heavily into the seat next to him.
All thoughts of getting paired up with one of the numerous cheerleaders in the class—and Cythera had just walked in—were crushed swiftly, but Gary didn’t have time to try and change Raoul’s mind before the teacher walked in.
“Alright class, you might have noticed that today we are doing a science lab.”
Raoul groaned. “You have to be my partner, Gary, or else I’m going to be stuck with some girl who doesn’t know what they’re doing…” He smiled weakly back at Josiane before making a desperate face in Gary’s direction. Gary, however, didn’t feel too bad for Raoul. Trust him to make attention from the fairer gender into a terrifying thing.
Raoul’s moaning and complaining had caused Gary to miss the rest of the directions, but the instructions at each lab setup were fairly easy.
“Dude, this is liquid nitrogen!” Raoul exclaimed happily, pointing. Gary nodded, watching with glee as Josiane was separated from her lab partner of choice, Jon, and made to work with Thom instead. Neither the grumpy redhead nor the perfectly primped cheerleader looked pleased about this arrangement in the least, though Jon looked at Alanna, and Alanna at Jon, and they both shrugged.
“Duuuuuuuuude!” Raoul’s yell was followed by the tinkling noise of something shattering. “Gary, this stuff makes other stuff break!”
Gary bit his tongue; of course it did, it was liquid nitrogen. However, it took Raoul very little prodding to get Gary to join in the process of ‘find thing, dip thing in nitrogen, break thing.’
“I wonder if I can still eat these…” Raoul mused, eyeing the frozen cereal on the lab table.
“Go for it,” Gary urged, and both of them were awed by the smoke that began drifting from Raoul’s nose and mouth following this second (less school appropriate) experiment.
Somehow, even while eating deep-frozen cheerios and emitting smoke through his nose, Raoul managed to get all the female attention he wanted. It wasn’t fair… but, maybe, Gary thought looking at his friend, it was the shirt. Perhaps CCHS football jerseys were magic…
“This is boring.” Gary’s attention drifted, but there was none of the usual drama this class usually created to entertain him, unless you counted the piercing stares that Josiane was leveling at Alanna, and Gary never did. Petty girl fights grew old, fast.
“So, lets put something cool in the nitrogen,” Raoul suggested. “There’s loads of things we haven’t done yet, like…”
Chin on hand, Gary watched Raoul search for something worthy of freezing and shattering.
“This!” Raoul shoved his cupped hands under Gary’s nose. Missing inhaling the soapy bubbles by mere centimeters, Gary blinked.
“I didn’t even think of that…” he mused, and Raoul nodded excitedly. “Come on, come on!”
Seconds later, there were frozen bubbles everywhere.
