Title: Colour-Blind Rating: PG13 Word Count: 177 Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains Round/Fight: 1E Summary: In those moments, Gary could swear that he almost goes colour-blind. Set shortly after ItHotG.
In those moments, when steel is ringing in the air and blood is gurgling out of the poor bastard beside him, Gary could swear that he almost goes colour-blind. Everything around him shifts and fades to muted shades of grey; the blood on his sword is as black as tar. It makes him dizzy, and he blinks, somehow managing to stay upright and drive his sword into the grimy-looking soldier who rushes past him.
It isn’t until he sees it, and his heart lurches forward in his chest, that he realises he was searching for it: that flash of green, the familiar shield. Raoul. There are too many men between them, but the glimpse provides him the tiniest piece of comfort. His dulled senses seem to brighten suddenly, and then another man is coming at him and he moves without thinking; his opponent is fast, but not fast enough. Another glimpse through the horde of soldiers gives him courage; he pushes the man’s body away from him and carries on. There’s still something left to fight for.

Hahaha-- the filter's still on, and it says Roger up there ^
I was like, huh? Why is Gary looking for him?...and then I realized.
But other than my brief confusion, I love this. Absolutely, wordy-- the colour blind idea is fantastic, and I felt all tilted and off balance in the beginning. Fantastic job!

I love their steady, permeating connection that you portray here. Beautiful.

Aww, I love that he's looking for the colours of Raoul's shield amid all the chaos, and being reassured by it. It's so sweet.

Oh, such a sweet and lovely idea, even amidst the horror of war. Speaking of which, you write the fighting beautifully; it seems very human and real.
