Title: What I Always Wanted
Rating: PG
Word Count: 294
Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains
Round/Fight: 2/C
Summary: Raoul is impossible to buy for.
Gary searched and searched through Corus for something to give Raoul. He had begun his hunt weeks in advance, but the prize had been elusive, and he was lost in a forest of Midwinter decoration with no gift to give. The others had been easy: a perfume for his wife; sweets and toys for his children; something useful for Alanna (anything from Raven Armoury would be appreciated); something beautiful for his father, who was secretly sick of useful things; something funny for Jon, who had everything else, and who needed the laugh, for his own sake and everyone else’s.
But Raoul. The man was impossible to buy for, even though he liked almost everything. Even though all their friends had completed their shopping, with Raoul well provided for (he had made enquiries). And yet, the day was here, and Gary’s hands were empty. He decided, in the end, not to give Raoul a gift at all, but instead to take something for himself.
“You have to close your eyes.”
“Why? What is it?”
“It’s a surprise. If I’m honest, you probably won’t like it.”
Raoul flinched blindly away, “Why? What is it?”
“You have to come closer. Just trust me.”
Raoul did trust Gary, and drew forward, eyes shut tight. Keeping his hands locked behind his back and his feet planted where they were, Gary leaned forward from the hips and pressed his lips softly to Raoul’s. It was hard, but after a few moments he made himself stand back straight. He wanted to go further, but he had probably done enough damage already. At last, Raoul opened his eyes, and it was a few moments before they welled with tears. “Just what I always wanted.” His voice cracked as he said it.
