Title: No Reasoning Required Rating: PG Word Count: 190 Pairing: Neal/Owen Fight: 1/E Summary: Owen wants to know why Kel is so ready to help him, and Neal watched Kel enough times to know.
Owen was standing in the stables, brushing the horse that had just been issued to him by Stefan. He looked around and noticed that he was alone, except for Neal. A question rose to his mind, one that he had been contemplating for days.
“Neal?” Owen asked, poking his head out of the stall.
“What?” Neal turned around to face Owen.
“I was wondering why Kel, why she…” Owen began to blush slightly, and Neal began to look at him quizzically. Owen gulped and tried again. “Why she was so intent on saving me from the bullies.”
Neal smiled. “You know why, Owen. She told you- it’s because she hates bullying.”
“But why? Kel got hurt trying to help us, and she didn’t need to. And then she got in trouble with my lord- all for me!”
Neal chuckled and said, “Listen kid, Kel loves to throw herself in front of other people. She doesn’t always need a reason; if someone looks like they’re in trouble, she’s there.” He paused. “You should get used to it, because if you want to be her friend you’re going to get hurt too.”

I love Neal’s Kel-logic. And Owen’s need to know why. I can really see this taking place.
