Title: Something Missing
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 274
Pairing: Team Circlecest
Round: 1/H
Summary: The others help Tris prepare for her big day.
Sandry and Daja were there first thing in the morning, Sandry to do the final arrangement of Tris’s gown, Daja with bespelled metal ornaments for her hair. They fussed over her until she was ready to scream, Sandry guiding her gently-but-firmly into layers of satin and tulle, Daja feigning apathy but somehow taking charge of Tris’s hairstyle all the same. Eventually they were finished, and Tris looked in the mirror to see a radiant, blushing bride staring back.
“You look lovely,” Sandry said, kissing her cheek.
“Arthur won’t be able to take his eyes off you,” Daja agreed, grinning. “There’s just one thing missing.” She opened the door and beckoned Briar into the room.
Briar looked the bride over, head to toe, and whistled.
Tris glared at him. “Stop that.”
“What? I’m not allowed to be impressed?”
She rolled her eyes at that, then turned to the others. “You said something was missing.”
“Flowers,” Sandry giggled.
“Tris,” Briar said, drawing her attention. He held up a small arrangement of rosebuds in shades of coral and ivory. “May I?”
She nodded, mutely.
He stepped forward to pin the corsage to her gown. Overwhelmed with emotion, she didn’t trust herself to look up at him right now.
“Congratulations, Coppercurls.”
He would have kissed her cheek, but the use of the old nickname startled her into looking up just as he lowered his head. They were both still for a second, eyes locked, and then their lips touched. The kiss deepened. When she reached for him, she wasn’t sure if it was to pull him closer or push him away.
