Title: If Rating: PG Word Count: 153 Pairing: Briar/Daja/Sandry/Tris – Team Circlecest Round/Fight: 2/C Summary: Sandry, now the Duches of Emelan, is haunted by the simple word "if." Sandry/Briar romantic pairing.
“If I was your duke-”
“But you aren’t.”
“In another lifetime-”
“Briar, it’s this lifetime. Can’t you just let it be?”
“In another lifetime,” Briar persists. “We would have been very happy, you and I.”
“Yes,” Sandry agrees, laying her head on Briar’s shoulder. “In another lifetime, things would be different, and we would be happy.”
They sat like that for a long time, leaning on each other for silent support, reminding each other through physical pressure that they were still there, would always be there.
“If you could marry him-”
“Do you want to start a rebellion, Tris? You know the terms of my being named heir were that I didn’t marry, and didn’t have children.”
“But you would be happy,” Daja protests softly. “You love each other. You carry each other’s hearts.”
“Yes,” Sandry agrees. “We would have been very happy. But it’s this lifetime, and this world, and we’re not.”

Oh, this is just so sad and sweet and the only real way I can ever see B/S going. I love how Tris isn't exactly the voice of reason here. Lovely!

So lovely and bittersweet. I'd like to think that they had all their shenninigans anyway, without being married, though.

I love how much you've captured with the dialogue here. You really have the Circle down! (:

Moony- I quite like B/S, but it's totally doomed.
Thanks to all of you! And especially for the compliment on my dialogue- that's usually my weak point.
