Title: Smiles Rating: PG Word Count: 238 Pairing: Briar/Daja/Sandry/Tris – Team Circlecest Round/Fight: 1/H Summary: Briar, for one, loves seeing the stalwart trader smiling.
“What is it you want this time, Beggar Boy?” Daja never stopped the rhythmic pumping of the bellows, nor did she look up, but she could feel Briar leaning on her work table smirking.
Why would you assume I need something, sister dear? He spoke in her mind now, as he knew she preferred to do when submerged in her own magic. It had only been a courtesy to start the conversation out loud.
You never come into the forge if you don’t need to. Tris will visit, sometimes, when I forget to eat. And Sandry loves to have someone to talk to as she sews. But you always have an agenda. She responded in the same way, a touch of sadness in the statement. The iron scraps for your hydrangeas are over in the corner. She motioned to a bucket on the far wall with her mind, and he found it quickly through her. The iron was a solid, strong presence in his mind. Like you, Saati, he said, coming up to hug her from behind and nuzzle the heat-branded skin of her neck. She shivered even in the heat of the forge. And the only reason I avoid this place is so I don’t singe my roots. You, though, always make it worth it. He kissed the skin lightly before stepping away, leaving with the metal for his gardens. He always liked to leave her smiling.

This is cute! I loved the way you put in little details that made the story really seem like a slice of their lives. Great job on the characters!

Thank you! I always worry about getting the characters right or adding too much detail (a weakness of mine). But I love playing with these four, so I can't resist
