Title: Frown Rating: G Word Count: 207 Pairing: Briar/Daja/Sandry/Tris – Team Circlecest Round/Fight: 1/H Summary: Lark doesn’t frown.
“You’re frowning,” Rosethorn whispered hotly.
“I was not!” Lark’s tone was indignant as she whipped around to look back at Rosethorn.
“Yes you were! You were looking at them and frowning.” Rosethorn paused. “Why? They’re not our responsibility anymore.”
The ‘them’ in question were four young adults, sitting around a table and talking animatedly. Tris was accusing Briar of sneaking another girl in while Daja and Sandry compared pattern designs for lace and wire-thin living metal.
Lark picked up the bowl of bread and set it on the table, glaring at Briar (who immediately grabbed a piece to chew on). Sandry gave her a thankful smile and scolded Briar with mock enthusiasm, dragging Daja into the whole thing when the Trader also picked up a piece of bread. When she returned to the kitchen, feeling a little out of place in Daja’s home, Rosethorn was waiting for her.
“You never frown,” she said quietly, arms crossed.
Not meeting her eyes, Lark tried to shrug it off. “When they left…” She cleared her throat. “I’m just happy they came home.”
“In mostly one piece?” Rosethorn asked softly.
“Yes. Mostly,” Lark agreed, brushing her sleeve across her eyes. “And I thank the gods every night for that,” she murmured.

I love seeing the relationship from Lark and Rosethorn's point of view. After all, they did raise them!
