Title: Serve God Love Me Rating: G Word Count: 132 Pairing: Crane/Rosethorn Round/Fight: 1/F Summary: Upon completion of the human essences.
"We have it." Crane's voice is a whisper.
"Don't jinx it," Rosethorn hisses, but she knows that he's right. They're done. Eight years of sending their notes to one another, of fights and inspirations and successes and failures, is done. It's over. They have the essences, the compounds that three of their friends gave their lives for.
She slips her hand inside his. Laid out on the table, they don't seem worth the death. Rationally, she knows that they will prevent so very much more suffering, but in the moment she can only see her lost compatriots.
Crane squeezes her fingers, and when she looks at him his eyes are shining. "We did it," he says, sounding awed, overwhelmed.
"It seems we did," she replies, and his smile lights up the room.

This is so sweet and uplifting! I love how you don't shy away from the pain and blood that went into the creation of the essences, but at the same time don't let it diminish their happiness. Lovely.
