Title: Standing-in Rating: G Word Count: 150 Pairing: Crane/Rosethorn Round/Fight: 1/F Summary: Crane admits to cowardice.
“Yanjing, truly? Between you and the boy they’ll think they’ve been visited by a zoo.”
Rosethorn flushed, knowing it grew deeper as she caught the Air Dedicate’s triumphant flicker of a smile. “Better that than bore them to death.”
He took her hand, fingers wrapping soundly about her wrist. He drew a small Gods Circle on the pale skin there, careful and precise as he might manage with the side of his thumb. “Lark shall miss you,” he said.
The Earth Dedicate shook her head, white strands in her auburn startling him more than they did in his own. “Whenever it’s Lark will do this, or Lark won’t do that, Crane,” she muttered, pulling away. “It’s just you trying to say something that you can’t under your own name.”
Crane shrugged. “It’s a longstanding cowardice,” he said. “Lark has known of it for years. And...Rosethorn. She shall miss you.”

Oh, I love what Crane *isn't* saying, because I can definitely see him using Lark as a catalyst for his own feelings.

I adore the little gesture of drawing the Gods Circle; it's tender and intimate and says what he's trying to say so clearly. Beautiful.
