Title: New plans, old people Rating: PG Wordcount: 144 Pairing: Crane/Rosethorn Round: 1/F Summary: Rosethorn is about to begin a new ritual. Crane disapproves.
“The Mire?”
“You’re not deaf yet, old man.”
“You would voluntarily subject yourself to filth—”
“—not deaf, but if you could hear yourself the world might end. “
“—again?”
“This is different. Not that it matters.”
“I hold a healthy curiosity.”
“Toward my movements? Crane, that’s—”
“Paraskeve’s vows are soon, are they not?”
“If you say you have a healthy curiosity regarding the two of us, I shall laugh, and laugh and—”
“—she is already as close to you as anyone has ever been. And you to her.”
“Spit it out, Crane.”
“Hurting yourself by going through a world that distresses you could not possibly make the woman love you any more than she does already. Even I can see that. You are...unkind to yourself, Rosethorn.”
“I am myself. And, dear fool man, you do not understand at all.”

Very, very interesting. I like the way the conversation they are having together seems to not quite meet... Great use of their characters.
