Title: Homesick
Rating: G
Word Count: 267
Pairing: Rosethorn/Crane
Round/Fight: (e.g. 1/A) 1/F
Summary: (including warnings) She knows he's insufferable. Rosethorn misses Crane anyway. Set during Street Magic. No warnings
Rosethorn knew she would miss Lark terribly while traveling to Gyongxe. She knew, and was prepared, and it almost made it easier, to be ready for it. She hadn’t been prepared to miss Crane with similar intensity. Their relationship was made up of periods of closeness, and periods where they barely saw each other at all. This should have been like any of the other times she was preoccupied with Discipline, her medicines, her garden and Crane was busy building his little greenhouse.
But now that she had project facing her, a task she could not, in good conscience turn down…Well, she wished he was with her, by her side. Even knowing that Crane was more interested in his experiments and medicines than in farms and actually talking to the people at the heart of the problem. The tests for the health of the soil, all kinds of things to measure and test…once he saw it as a problem solvable with magic and work, not solely about trying convince farmers of things they should do. And it’s not like Crane wasn’t fond of making things grow where they by all rights shouldn’t. She knew full well he would be spend nearly all of his time criticizing how disorderly her work was, complaining about the heat and dust, and being absolutely horrible to every hopeless Chammuran farmer with no crops who turned to her. That was unfair, and Rosethorn knew it. It would have been nice if it had made her feel better though. Instead thinking on everything Crane did to annoy her only made her miss him more.
