Title: Start Anew (15) Rating: G Wordcount: 142 Pairing: Jon/Kel Round: 3/A Summary: A historian gives her opinion of Kel.
As a historical figure, I have always thought Keladry of Mindelan was more interesting than Queen Keladry of Conte. I know that many may disagree, but the Keladry that married King Jonathan after the Great War, the queen that helped save her country from ruin-- that Keladry only existed because of the admirable strength and passion of Keladry of Mindelan.
Squire Keladry clashed with the king over laws about servants. Page Keladry confronted bandits. And of course, Lady Knight Keladry, commander of the refugee camp Haven, betrayed orders and committed treason to go over enemy lines to save her people-- and received a well-known tongue lashing from the king as well.
The heroic queen could not have been so without those experiences. And it is entirely arguable that Jonathan would not have been able to rebuild Tortall, let along survive, without her.
