Title: No Matter What The Future Brings, 13
Rating: G
Word Count: 279
Pairing: Raoul/Sabine
Round/Fight: 1/G
Summary: Raouls pops a big question--not the big question
A/N: Part 13 of ATGB
“I have something I need to ask you,” Raoul whispered as they danced. “Would you accompany me to the gardens? Where you found me last night?”
Sabine nodded, amused that Raoul’s confident words still managed to shake. Secretly, she hoped he never overcame his endearing shyness, and regretfully acknowledged that she’d bore of him quickly if he didn’t change over time.
They walked down the garden paths in silence. When they arrived to the vine-hidden trellis, Raoul pushed aside a section of vines and roses to let her pass first.
“How did you know this was here?” She asked him curiously as he sat down beside her.
He smiled fondly as he answered, “It’s still here in my time. It’s my favorite hiding spot at such occasions.”
Sabine laughed. He loved her laugh; it wasn’t the ear-splitting giggle or shriek he usually associated with girls.
“Sabine?”
She looked at him, her deep brown eyes sparkling just for him. He could feel himself beginning to blush.
“Come back with me,” he blurted out, then threw his hands up to cover his mouth.
Her gaze turned questioning. “You want me to go with you to the future?”
Raoul sighed, at least she hadn’t called him crazy. “I have to go back. Duke Roger—you remember—“ she wrinkled her nose in answer. “We—Gary and I—we have to make sure he doesn’t—“
“When are you leaving?”
Raoul met her eyes. “The Longest Night. You’ll be knighted by then. It’s also the only time we can,” He paused. “Please. I’ have to go back, but I don’t want to lose you.”
After what felt like an eternity, Sabine answered him.
“I’ll go with you.”
