Sidonie, this is utterly beautiful and tender. I love your characterisation of Zahir, but especially the more implicit way you portrayed Roald.
ETA: I just noticed the title - I LOVE it, and how glass is so fragile, yet it can cut and originates in immense heat. So perfect for this sentence.

I love the way you described Zahir in this - "fierceness and edges and desert heat" is exactly what he is.

Especially juxtaposed with "Desert" this just seems like such a perfect way to see them. Zahir as all passion and Roald as slow and gentle. Wounderful!
