Round Three Fight A - Winner
Raoul watches Alanna as they stand in the harbour, her face unreadable as she stares over the blue water.
“I heard about you and Keladry.” Her voice is barely more than a whisper, trembling with anger.
His hand inches towards the hilt of his sword. “She loves me.”
“This has to end.” Alanna’s sword sings as she pulls it out of her scabbard, and Raoul follows a moment later. “She deserves better than you.”
She strikes, Raoul blocks, and the battle begins. All that can be heard is their laboured breathing and the sound of metal as their swords clashed. Alanna’s attack forces Raoul back and he stumbles backwards down the pier. They pass a boat and Raoul moves from defence to attack, pushing the Lioness up a ramp onto the deck of a small boat.
Ducking her swing as he follows her onto the deck, he cuts the ropes anchoring the boat to its moorings. The boat begins bobbing onto the rough ocean, and they both hesitate as they try to keep their balance.
Alanna is more than a little green, but she manages to slash his arm as they continue their bout on the deck. “Keladry will be mine,” she calls out triumphantly.
Despite their friendship, Raoul knows that this is a fight to the death. “She is mine.” He strikes at Alanna in reply, scoring her thigh with his sword as she sweeps his feet from under him. Raoul tumbles down and they both hear the crack of his arm breaking as his body crashes into the wood. Alanna’s sword is on him in an instant.
Raoul pushes at her feet, unbalancing her just as the boat rocks violently. She stumbles along the deck, trying and failing to regain her footing, instead hitting the railing. Alanna crashes into it, but instead of stopping her, she tumbles over the railing, falling into the sea below. He gets to his feet, slowly walking over to the railing where the Lioness had fallen. “Looks like I won this round, Pirate’s Swoop.”
