Type of art: Bookmarks Title: Tortall Ladies Rating: G Series: Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, Protector of the Small, Trickster, and Provost's Dog books. Summary: If you want to read my notes on them, read the summary under the image on my DA page (click the image above as it'll bring you to the image on my DA page, where you can see it in larger scale).
(Edit-Add) My goal with these had been to use colors and images that are associated with the characters. It turned out that most the images I came up with were their animals, so it just worked out well that way, as it kept them similar to each other for the set.
So each character's bookmark is meant to represent the character in some form:
Beka: Pigeons, Achoo [Bloodhoud], Dust Spinner, Guardswoman Beka Cooper. Grey/Blue border color to reference her eyes. The muddy red/orange for a more dirty feel towards her working in the lower city. Alanna: Violet gift color, Faithful the black cat, Alanna, the Lioness text. Daine: Orange wild magic color, Cloud the pony, and Kitten the dragon, Daine, the Wild Mage text. Kel: Peachblossom the war pony, sparrows, and Jump the dog, Keladry, Lady Knight text. I couldn't really think of a color that really represented her. Aly: The crows and her colors were more focused on an Island feel to them, Aly Bright-Eyes text.
Disclaimer: Characters belong to the master mind of Tamora Pierce, of course. The silhouettes images in the background were via a google search and modified to be as they are in the images. Otherwise, everything is the work of myself.

Gorgeous! Lovely choices of colours for each of them, and I adore the silhouettes. Daine is probably my favourite (but I think she's probably my favourite protagonist too).

These are awesome looking! Like Rosie, I love the colors. And the background images are quite fitting.

These are awesome. (Did you previously do some art for the Daughters of the Goddess RP?)

No, I can't say I did. I haven't ventured outside of HP RPs and I haven't been approached to do art for any.
Thank you for the comments ^.^

Oh, these are gorgeous. I noticed that you were working on this project when you linked you DA account, and they turned out absolutely stunning. I think my favorite is either Daine or Aly (which is funny, since they were my least favorite protagonists). I'm not sure whether it was intentional or not, but I like that Aly is the only one facing her left -- it seems apt for her defiant personality. I may also have fallen in love with Alanna's text. So pretty!

Wow, these are great! I think my favourite ones are the Kel one and the Daine one. I particularly like the way you draw Kel, and the dragon in Daine's bookmark.

I can't really say it was intentional, as I was contemplating having Daine facing the other direction. I kept flipping her back and forth and finally decided her stance looks better as I have it now. As my main focus when designing them was that they were a set so there had to be certain similarities and there needed to be a certain flow to the four bookmarks. I actually wasn't too happy that Aly was the only one facing/looking in that direction (as Alanna's body is facing that direction), but that was how it had turned out and in the end there was still the flow I was going for between them that I didn't feel the need change it.
As it was, I was contemplating if I wanted to add anything more to these. I had tried adding the title of their series across the top of the bookmarks, but I decided that it was too much and didn't follow through with it.
And Alanna's text is called Windsong, and I bolded it to give the text more depth, as it is a thin looking font.
And if anyone is curious the order in which these were done was: Aly, Alanna, Kel, Daine (and reverse Daine and Kel for the order they were drawn in). I'm not sure of the order I did their line art in.
Edit: And thank you everyone for the comments. I'm glad they turned out well, and (hope) you all enjoy them.

These are awesome--love the thought behind the color and animals too. And the expressions are wonderful, particularly Aly.

I like the way you personalized each one with the character's symbols and colours. Nicely done!

Thank you all for the lovely comments ^.^
I just want to take this moment to say that I will be adding Beka to the set. I have a sketch of her done in my sketch book, but I don't know when I'll get time to work on it further since my semester is coming to an end next Friday (5/15), so I have papers (2), a project, exams (3), and moving out of my dorm to get through.
However, whenever I do finish her, I'll just modify my first post in this thread and add her in that way and will reply also to inform people of her addition, as I don't want to create a new thread just for her, as she is apart of this set.

Oooh, these are gorgeous! I love Faithful's silhouette and Peachblossom's mane (for some odd reason) but overall my favourite would have to be either Daine or Aly. Aly's hair is especially fun. Looking forward to seeing Beka, too!

These are beautiful! The two Lady Knights are my favorites -- they're my favorite characters to begin with, and you've captured Kel's seriousness and the way young Alanna is always up to something. Very nice.

As I promised. I'm posting to inform everyone that I have added Beka to the set of bookmarks. I just sat myself down tonight and made myself finish her up. So now this set is completely finished.
Enjoy ^.^
