Title: Waiting
Rating: G
Length: 277
Competitor: Vania
Round/Fight: 1/F
Summary: Vania makes Kel wait.
Notes: Banning myself from Goldenlake for the rest of the day so I'm not tempted to keep hurting my hand for Vania's sake!!
Jasson was waiting for her when she returned from the gardens. He lounged on a chair, running his fingers through his dark hair. “Sister,” he greeted her. “You’re back early.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Brother. You’re back alone. What happened?” She plopped herself on the chair next to him.
He sighed. “Husbands.”
“Plural?” She asked, amused.
“Indeed.” Jasson replied, forlorn. “You know how I like a challenge. I had been working on those twins from Raddler’s Peak all night – absolutely splendid, they were - and we were only a whisper from the doors when their husbands caught up. Such a waste of a night.”
Vania giggled, patting him on the shoulder. “And you gave up so easily?”
Jasson rolled his eyes. “They were huge fellows. Part bear, I think. So, I came looking for you, hoping you’d had as little luck as me.” He rested his head on her shoulder. “I thought we could borrow a bottle of Father’s best whisky and drown our sorrows. Maybe even help Liam heat his room, using all his favourite clothes to build the fire.”
“Can’t.” Vania replied, sliding off the chair and straightening up. “I have somewhere to be. Or rather, someone’s bed to be in.”
“But- you’re back here.” Jasson protested. “I thought-”
Vania grinned at him. “I never said I was staying. I have a certain Lady Knight waiting downstairs for me.”
“And you’re up here because?”
Vania flipped her long hair. “I just needed an excuse to make her wait.” She walked towards the door. Looking back over her shoulder, she called, “Also, don’t forget - you now owe me 10 gold Nobles. I beat you to a Lady Knight.”
