Bright Star XI G 105 Joren 1/E Non-sequential. I think I ought to put these in order at some point. One day. When Smackdown's not so srs bsness making me write like the clappers. ____________________________
He has grown so far away from the palace and the capital, but it is almost a relief to return, recapture some dregs of a time that now seems to him so beautiful for its intensity, when he was bruising her and trying to will her out of his life, and he doesn’t think this is love because he has only tenderness for the women who turn their heads to the pretty squire, and he doesn’t want anything of the sort with her, ever.
She had left bruises upon him, though. She had met him halfway.
And there is something to be honoured in that.

I'm loving the complexity this series gives to Joren's character.
I haven't read these all yet -- I'm having trouble focusing on the out-of-sequence-ness -- but the prose is beautiful and it's making me care about Joren more than I would have expected.
