Title: Osmosis Rating: PG Length: 173 Round: 2/D Competitor: Alanna Summary: Neal is dismayed
"Good question. Next question?"
Neal paled. "You realise," he said faintly, "you are starting to talk like her?"
"Am I?"
"Oh, stop."
Kel's sigh was lost in the street noise of Corus, the sound of their boots on cobblestones almost eerie after the two years in New Hope. "Stop what, Neal?"
"You look disgustingly happy," said Neal. "All vivid-languor and other oxymoronic things--"
"--Neal."
The warning tone was just provoking. Neal threw his hands in the air. "Brain first, vocabulary second. I know. And I wish you'd never heard father use that one."
"But," Kel said mildly, "It's useful."
"And you're dodging the topic, Lady Knight! You are starting to sound like her and your eyes follow her round the room and it's all dreadfully romantic and sickening--some sort of Goddess-cursed osmosis!"
"Neal."
"Osmosis!" Neal eyed her, despairing. "An exchange of, in this case, cadence and vocabulary through an exchange of spit."
Kel considered this. "Neal," she said. "If you think like that, no wonder you find us so upsetting."

LOL! ;D This is probably one of my favorite of your pieces - I love Neal's dismay, and Kel's patient Alannaish exasperation. This is adorable.

Oh, this competition has reminded me why I adore Neal so much, and few fics so much as this one have given perfect examples.
