“We’re not so different, you know.” Alanna’s smile was wry.
Kel’s head swam with conflicting feelings, but she was silent out of respect for the woman who was – had been – her idol.
Alanna sighed. “I can ask you not to tell anyone for my sake, but that isn’t fair.” She watched Kel, weighing her up. “Instead, I would urge you to stay silent for the sake of your friendship with Neal. We both know he wouldn’t take public knowledge of this”
Kel’s cheeks flushed. “And my friendship with Yukimi?”
Alanna averted her eyes. “Do it for her sake too.” She hesitated, unsure. “I would talk to her, but she is avoiding me.”
“I expect that would have something to do with her attachment to her marriage.” Kel replied bluntly. “Either you or Yuki need to tell Neal about the affair, and soon. Otherwise, I will.” She stood up. “Goodbye, Alanna.”
