“I’m worried,” Alanna said.
“Why?” Raoul asked, “Is something up with George or the kids?”
Alanna shook her head. “It’s Keladry,” she explained, “I haven’t seen her around Court all week. I’ve been wondering what she’s up to.”
Raoul laughed. “She’s my squire, Alanna, not yours. Leave the worrying up to me.”
“That’s exactly why I worry. If she was my squire I would know that she was in good hands.”
“I haven’t gotten her killed, have I?”
“No,” Alanna admitted, “But you never know. You don’t even know where she is, do you?”
Raoul shrugged. “She’s probably at the practice courts. At least, that’s where she always is.”
Alanna got up. “I’m going to go check on her. I know I can’t be seen with her, but that doesn’t mean I can’t watch her.”
“She’s a perfectly competent young woman. She can take care of herself.”
Alanna scowled. “It’s better safe than sorry. It can’t hurt to make sure that she’s okay.”
Raoul chuckled. “Alanna, have you ever thought that you might
be a bit of a stalker?”
