Alanna stared off into the darkness, her thoughts filled with anxiety and sadness. She had suffered through numerous relationships that proved to be unworkable, and was beginning to doubt if she would ever find anyone to spend the rest of her life with. Life with George had been filled with joy and possibility, but the differences between them proved to be to great to handle. George simply wanted different things in life that she could not provide, such as bundles of children.
Years ago someone had suggested that Alanna should explore the possibility of spending her life with a woman. Alanna had laughed it off, thinking that she only desired the touch of men. It would not be for a few years that Alanna would truly consider that there was another way, and it would take many more before she eventually acted upon it.
If anyone had ever told Alanna that she would fall in love with a Lady Knight at the time, she would have laughed her head off and thought them crazy. But you never know, things change.
