“So Neal,” Alanna began, “How is your friend Keladry?”
“She’s fine I suppose,” Neal responded, “I haven’t seen her much since we became squire. She spends all her time with the men of the Own.”
“But you’ve seen her occasionally,” Alanna pestered, “Did she seem happy? How is her training?”
Neal gave Alanna a funny look. “I guess so, but why are you so interested in her?”
“I’m just worried that she might not be doing well with the Own.”
“Why don’t you ask Lord Raoul? He spends the most time with her.”
“I don’t trust Raoul,” Alanna grumbled, too soft for Neal to hear.
“What was that?” Neal asked.
“Nothing,” Alanna covered, “Perhaps I will go ask Raoul. After all he’ll give me better information than you are.”
