Title: Wittol Rating: PG Length: 175 words Competitor: Wyldon Round/Fight: 1/A Summary: This, too, shall pass.
After the funeral of Lord Wyldon of Cavall, Lerant held his wife against him until she sobbed herself to sleep. They had been close for years, he knew – he’d been her teacher, her mentor, her friend.
Her lover.
Lerant was a clever man, for all that everyone overlooked him and underestimated him. And he recognized the change in Kel the minute the affair began, when she returned from her border patrol with secrets behind her long lashes. He didn’t know the identity of the other man. His suspicions ranged from the logical to the absurd, everyone from Seaver of Tasride to Lindhall Reed. And Wyldon of Cavall had fallen somewhere in the middle of that range. It wasn’t until seeing the full force of her misery that he placed two and two together.
It was over now, though, and he could begin to try to forgive her. It was his love – unconditional love, it seemed – that kept her in his heart, his home, his bed. Like his grief, hers would pass. They would begin again.

*sniffs* I'm really not used to Larent making me melt, so this is disconcerting for all kinds of reasons.
(Also...Kel/Lindhall...)

Ahhh I just adore this fic - it's definitely one of my favorites so far. I just love that I see so much about redemption in this, and Lerant's struggle for forgiveness, and even Kel's realistically written infidelity. There's just so much about this that I love!! All I have to say to that is:

Thanks guys! I'm glad this didn't come across as Lerant being too weak. And Mandi, you know I put that in there just for you. (but absurd = GREAT!)
