Title: Burning Love
Rating: G
Length:
Competitor: Dom
Round/Fight: 1/A
Summary: Dom tries to show Kel how he feels.
All he’d wanted was to give Kel a night of romance – one that she’d never forget.
He’d bought spiced wine, and glasses with little hearts on them (the seller has assured him a girl would like them). He’d bough flower petals to sprinkle around her room. He’d bought massage oil to use on Kel. He’d even bought dozens of scented candles, to create something called “mood lighting”, whatever that was.
Ahh, the candles.
Dom had prepared the room while Kel had been at dinner. He’d sprinkled the petals lovingly across the room. He’d prepared the wine, and drawn her a hot bath. Lastly, he’d grouped the candles around the room – he’d bought a lot - and lit them all.
So many candles had made the room fairly hot, so Dom opened the shutters a little, to let some cool night air in. The shutters had their own ideas though, and flipped all the way open, letting a sharp blast of wind into the room, and blowing the curtains directly into a cluster of lit candles. Whatever fabric the curtains were made of was extremely flammable – as Dom stood there, stunned, the fire raced across the curtains – to the armchair, to the rug, to the bed. Before he knew it, Kel’s room was on fire and the air was thick with smoke.
In a stupid, snap decision, he fled the room, returning to his own and hoping –praying – that no one would notice he was the last person in the vicinity of the fire. Anxiously, he waited for news. Kel was going to be devastated, he knew it. She’d probably never speak to him again.
Suddenly, Kel burst through the door. “Dom, did you hear? Someone set fire to Merric’s room!”
