Title: Deflection Rating: PG-13 Length: 177 Competitor: Wyldon Round/Fight: 1/A Summary: There are some things that are nobody’s business.
“You’ve been so cozy with my Lord Cavall that I’m wonderin’ when you might abandon us and leave with him.”
Kel did a double-take, staring incredulously at Fanche. “What?”
“Well, last time you went to Mastiff, you were gone for two days. This time you were gone for four. Having romantic dinners with my lord?”
“Oh, indeed. With all this war going on, the lady knight has time to romance and old married man,” Neal said dryly, pulling Kel away from the headwoman. Then he turned to her. “What were you doing at Mastiff for so long?” he asked, his voice lowered.
“Going over reports.”
“It takes that long to go over reports?” Neal arched one eyebrow.
“We also played a chess match and jousted once.”
Neal shuddered and walked away. “You’re lucky you weren’t needed here,” he called out over his shoulder.
Kel watched him as he headed into the infirmary, wondering if he knew that by reports she meant candles and by chess she meant dinner. He didn’t even need to know about the jousting.

Fanche doesn't miss a beat. Pity Neal's not quite so clever. Awesome fic!
