Title: Waylaid Rating: G Length: 121 Competitor: Wyldon Round/Fight: 1/A Summary: Regularity and surprise seldom go hand in hand. Or don’t they?
“He never surprises anyone,” she was once told, as a probationary page. And for the most part, it was true. Wyldon of Cavall was as predictable a man as they came. He liked to have roasted pork on Mondays. He cleaned his teeth before doing anything else each morning. He liked to go running at dawn and at dusk. It was like clockwork.
But Cleon had been wrong, so many years before. Wyldon, perhaps, never surprised himself. And he made his opinions clear before acting upon them. But she had been very taken aback, in the beginning, when he made his first gesture. And that’s when she realized – no man who could lead ambushes could be accused of never surprising anyone.

Ooh, this is a really nifty fic. A very interesting basis, and really well executed. ♥

no man who could lead ambushes could be accused of never surprising anyone. I love how this could be applied to two kinds of warfare. *sigh* You are an inspiration to your fellow writer.

I like how Kel pinpointed all the little things he likes - like his roasted pork on Mondays, which I thought was just plain cute. And, of course, I love the last line!

I love revising opinions - it shows how non-judgemental and willing to reconsider Kel tends to be.
