Title: Extraordinary Girl
Rating: PG
Length: 280
Competitor: Wyldon
Round/Fight: 1/A
Summary: Wyldon doesn’t need a love potion to see the potential – or the problems!
If he had been pressed to admit it, he would’ve said that Keladry of Mindelan, under the influence of a love potion, had been adorable.
He had never really been drawn to the cuter things in life. Dogs were better than pups. Women were more interesting than young girls, save his own, of course. The world’s obsession with creating everything in miniature – cakes, flowers, dogs – was completely lost on him. He lived in a world of practicality rather than fashion.
But Keladry’s dreamy eyes, her full lips that parted slightly as she daydreamed… Something about her expressions, her youthful behavior, was enough to make his mind wander into territories he was not quite comfortable to be in. She was a child, and he preferred women. Preferably the woman he had married well before Keladry of Mindelan was born.
Wyldon didn’t need a clarifying draught, or even a love potion, to recognize the stirrings of feelings he had toward this young woman. He had spent years learning her every trait, listening to the nuances of her voice – there was nothing more to learn, he had thought. But somehow everything he’d known was turned on end this evening, when she’d looked at him through those ridiculously long eyelashes and leaned toward him the way court ladies would when flirting. He could read her thoughts as easily as if she’d laid them out before him. And he’d been intrigued.
A small part of him wondered what would happen, if both of them had been confounded by the drink.
Remembering his wife, his daughters, his role as her teacher and mentor, he vowed to never let his curiosity get the better of him.
