"What are you thinking?"
The question surprised her, and she turned away from the window she had been staring out of, to look straight at Wyldon. He wasn't the sort to pry, and he smiled at the query in her eyes.
"You don't have to tell me, not if you aren't inclined to. You looked very far away for a moment."
"Did I?" Kel remarked, running a hand through her hair. "I was wondering what kind of king Roald is going to be."
"A very good one, I expect," he answered. "He's steady, diplomatic, considered - a lot of things his father perhaps wasn't at his age, yet he turned out well."
"He's progressive," Kel mentioned, turning to catch the look on his face as he answered.
"He's the sort who won't let it influence his decision-making. No, I think he'll be the sort of king that will make Tortall proud."
Kel exhaled the breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding.
