Kel hasn't seen Cleon for years, and apprehension bubbles in her stomach the first time she catches sight of him at Midwinter. He isn't similarly restrained, and bounds over to her, grinning widely.
"Kel!" he exclaims, and she waits for the my dove, my pearl, the only woman for me, but they don't come, because, of course, he's married now. "Long time, no see."
"Far too long," she agrees. "How's Kennan?"
"Doing well," he replies, scanning the room. "Is Neal here? I've yet to meet his Yuki, though I know she's worth a poem or five hundred, from his letters."
She starts, not having known that Neal and Cleon were in touch. "He's here," she confirms. "We've got a regular study group reunion this Midwinter." She can see Wyldon up ahead, and the smile he gives her makes her knees tremble.
It doesn't pass Cleon by, though he has apparently missed the actual source of her blushes, and he raises an eyebrow at her. "Are you planning to add any visitors to our reunion?"
"Your wife is welcome to join us," Kel says, feigning innocence. "Yuki too, you can satisfy your curiosity."
"Excellent," Cleon says. "I'd better go back, I was only supposed to bring drinks back, she'll be wondering where I am. Oh, Kel?"
"Yes?" she replies, relieved to have escaped an inquisition.
"The Stump's welcome to join our reunion too," he informs her, with a sly wink.
