Wyldon had always shied away from using healers. It was born out of the Sweating Sickness, where he had watched their powers fail first-hand, and suffered from it. In all his years, he'd never seen the experience repeated, but just in case, he allowed his body to heal itself. The healers could retain their Gifts in case of emergency, and he would never learn to rely on something fallible.
After Vivenne died, he tried to heal by himself, keeping away from his daughters lest he affect their recovery with his own grief.
Eventually, though, he succumbed to the healing hands - and lips, and words - of Keladry.
