Kel was delighted when the war ended, and Alanna began to befriend her properly. She'd spent so long being kept at arm's length from this woman that the Lioness's myth had been compounded, and Kel had built her up as second only to the gods.
Alanna's tendency to swear surprised her, therefore, and the famous temper made her quail the first time she witnessed it. Gradually, though, Alanna learned to control herself a little around Kel, and won her confidence over.
They talked about many things, giggled over Raoul and Neal, and Alanna helped Kel to understand that Jon had never been an enemy, without Kel having to explain how she had viewed him.
There was one thing that was never mentioned, despite all the rumours that had begun to spring up. Wyldon's name never passed either of their lips.
