Title: Namesakes Rating: G Length: 153 words Competitor: Faleron Round/Fight: 1/B Summary: "And she will be called the Protector of the Small, but she will do more than protect the country—she will be the mother of kings. And he will be a great knight of a great house, and son after son will bear his name, and a king will never have reached so far as the one he sires." - Irnai's Royal Prophecy.
----- “What should we name her?”
Faleron gently picked up their son, almost three, and settled him on his lap as he gingerly sat on the side of the bed. His lady-wife held their small daughter close to her breast, smiling down at the frowning face. He gently tucked a lock of long black hair behind her ear.
“Call her Princess,” little Faleron piped up.
He snorted. “She’ll be called ‘princess’ whether that’s her name or not,” he told him. “I don’t think a Yamani name will fit her well,” Lianokami said. “And she doesn’t look K’miri at all.”
“So a Tortallan name?”
“Perhaps. Can you think of any?”
Faleron glanced at his son, his namesake, and also his father’s namesake. He would be the second king to bear the name, but the third man.
“We named him for my father,” the king said solemnly. “We’ll name her Keladry, for my mother.”

This took me a couple of reads over just to understand what exactly was going - why Faleron would be king, etc. - but now that I've got a grasp on it, I think this is very sweet! I love that there is just a simple yet poignant brush on Kel's relationship with her husband. Thank you for sharing!

I love this look into the future- its a wonderful reminder of the many consequences that actions can have on the future. And little Faleron is just adorable.
