Summary: Knight masters are supposed to comfort their squires
The door joining his study to Kel’s room was ajar. If it hadn’t have been for that, he might have missed hearing her door slam or her single, stifled sob. He frowned, Kel didn’t cry.
Setting aside his reports, Raoul stood and opened the door enough to slide inside her room. He found Kel curled up tightly on her bed, her eyes were shut and her face looked dry, but her shoulders shook.
Raoul chewed his lip for a moment, then locked the doors. He kicked off his boots and crawled into her bed behind her, touching her arm with a gentle, giant hand.
“Kel?”
Kel turned towards him, her eyes open and red-rimmed. Raoul pulled her into his arms and felt his heart warm as she sighed and drew herself even closer against his large chest.
