Title: Parallels Rating: PG Length: 256 words Competitor: Raoul Round/Fight: 1/C Summary: It's difficult when your heart is torn in two.
-----
Buriram met his kiss with a fierce one of her own. She broke away long enough to say breathlessly, “I missed you.”
“I missed you, too, little giant,” Raoul said honestly.
She glanced over her shoulder at her bed, open and inviting. After six months of heavy traveling and keeping the Scanran menace at bay, he would be a fool to tell himself he did not desperately want to fall into it and never wake up.
“You must be exhausted,” she said slyly, glancing up—way up—at him with that impish look she had.
Reluctantly, he said, “I need to take care of some stuff before I can relax.” That much, at least, was true. “I’m afraid I may be a couple hours before I can get away.”
She looked disappointed, but understood. “Well, as soon as you can, you man-creature husband of mine,” she drawled, “make sure that you do.” Softer, she said, “I’ll wait up.”
His response was to kiss her tenderly again. “I’ll be back as soon as possible,” he promised.
As soon as Buri closed the door, Raoul traveled a familiar route, not to take care of things left undone as he had implied but to another room in the knights’ quarters. He knocked.
Keladry opened the door.
“You’re back,” she said, and smiled.
“And so I am.”
He shut the door behind him and swept her up in a kiss. “I missed you,” he said honestly.
“I missed you, too, Giantkiller,” she teased, and pushed him to her bed.
