Dear Raoul,
I hope this letter reaches you alive and well, if at all. The northeast border is quiet, but it’s very cold and we’ve met a little opposition from both Scanrans and Gallans. If the king wants to salvage relations with Galla, he needs to move fast. Scanra is weaseling in, and even though the war ended, I don’t trust their agenda.
How is the Tyran border? We’ve heard the bandits are acting up a little bit. I hope they’re not giving you too much trouble. The boys here are pining after their wives until I think I may slap them. Neal sleeps with Yuki’s shukusen at night. I’m kind of afraid he’s going to decapitate himself during the night, and then where will he be? You’d think he’d have more sense.
Wyldon took an arrow in the shoulder, but he’s healed nicely. We’ve lost a couple men, but no one you know. So far we’ve suffered few casualties. It’s a blessing.
I miss Corus more than I ever thought I would. It’s been seven months since I’ve been there. I miss Roald and Shinko and the baby, all my friends still stationed nearby, my brothers...I even miss the Own!
I’m sorry this letter is so short, but I’m afraid I have little time nowadays. Give my regards to the men, and please take care of yourself.
