Title: Lune Rating: PG Length: 156 Competitor: Faleron Round/Fight: 2/A Summary: Dancing in the moonlight, everybody’s feelin’ warm and bright.
…
In the autumn when the moon comes closest to the earth, full and shining, swollen with borrowed light, they make love in the Palace gardens every night.
There are no colours, but the light is enough to bring up the shadows of everything, throw individual blades of grass into sharp relief, glitter on the dew beading them, catch some inner brightness in his wide, impossibly wild eyes, looking up at her, the musculature of his body, his velvety skin and the delicacy of it all serves to counter their oh so human waves and heat and sound, the colours that exist only behind her own eyes – or at least they steady things out enough that they don’t die of it.
And afterwards, when they are looking up at the stars which somehow aren’t dimmed by the moon’s own resplendence, disassembled and exhausted, and he says ‘This was the best idea we’ve ever had,’ she agrees.
Wholeheartedly.
