Title: Ether Rating: G Length: 176 Competitor: Faleron Round/Fight: 2/A Summary: Faleron adjectifying Kel. Totally a word.
…
At the age of twenty no one compares Keladry of Mindelan to a cow. They can’t. As if her heroic status isn’t enough, her time in the war has changed her physically, as if some latent potential for passion has finally been unlocked, her old self peeled back to reveal a finer, harder woman. There are shadows under her eyes – bright with survival – a spidery scar at the corner of her mouth where an arrow grazed her, her weight – as it has with all of them – has dropped dramatically, and her movements themselves, light and sure, are infused with a crystalline determination that makes people stop, and stare at her. One night when they’re out in a city tavern and she disappears to find a privy (they have long decided privies and taverns are a “girl thing”) they watch her, shifting between patrons as if they’re as insubstantial as mist, and Faleron finally finds the word to describe that silken quality of movement, where sylph and stamina have converged and melded together. She is ethereal now.

This is a fantastic idea, and I love Fal's description of Kel
