Summary: Raoul and Kel talk Unicorns and Lovers…
Everything was a mess. Raoul had heard from a reliable source that Keladry had a lover. He sighed. He couldn’t Afford to lose her now. The realm couldn’t afford to lose her. He had asked her to come to his office to speak to him. Wyldon, too, had expressed concern about this rumor, but instead of listening to gossip they figured the best thing to do would be to ask Kel directly.
Raoul had lost the joust that decided who it was that had to talk to her.
Keladry knocked on the door and he called out for her to come in. she slipped in the door and took a seat in front of him.
“I hear you have taken a lover,” he said. Better to get this over with.
“Yes, I heard the same thing,” she told him smiling. “I wish I could meet him,”
“So it is not true?” he asked.
“Not for me. Maybe they mean another Keladry,” she said.
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but Thank the Gods,” he said, sighing. Kel raised an eyebrow.
“We can’t afford to lose you as a commander just yet, Kel,” he told her.
“Don’t worry My Lord, I have taken no lover, my virtue is in tact, and I can still pat Unicorns,” she told him with a smile.
“Well,” he said gruffly. “Good”.
“Was there anything else?” she asked.
“No,” he said, following her as she stood up and moved to the door. He followed behind.
There was an awkward silence for a moment.
“Unicorns, Kel?”
“Yes, Sir, Unicorns”.
In his minds eye he saw Keladry in a white gown patting the nose of a Unicorn . . . And felt a stirring in his loins . . .
