Title: Willow Ring
Rating: PG
Length: 318
Competitor: Raoul
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: Em, an inanimate object thinks Raoul should make a move. I bet that sounds pretty weird.
It swung morosely as it observed the two figures—the two humans—talking not far from where it had been set up earlier. It watched as the two humans laughed, and the taller of the two, a male, slung an arm around the slightly smaller female. The male leaned down and whispered something in the female’s ear and she shoved him away, but he grasped onto her wrists and pulled her down to the ground with him. The pair laughed, and it wondered what was so amusing about falling about in a heap of extra-long human limbs.
It sighed. They had set him up about an hour ago, which it had found odd. There was no moon out tonight; they could hardly practice tilting at it with only the stars for light. It wished they would anyways; it was bored just swinging here without purpose.
It watched them get to their feet several times only for one of them—usually the male—to pull or push them back down. The first time they had fallen it had held its’ breath—the girl human had landed on the boy human’s chest. When it had seen other humans fall like that in his storage shed, normally the pair would cling oddly to one another in the small space. It had been entertained watching other humans looking silly in a way that had obviously been some form of mating.
But these two were very different. The girl would fall on top of the boy and gaze at him briefly, expectantly, then sigh and roll to her feet.
It was convinced that there was something wrong with the male, but it couldn’t speak. It was only a willow jousting ring. And willow jousting rings couldn’t speak to humans.
If it could, it would tell the human man that the human girl very obviously wanted at least a kiss.
Silly human man. What was stopping him?
