Title: Four’s a Party
Rating: PG
Length: 279
Competitor: Raoul
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: Another filling gets added to a Goldenlake sandwich. Whoops.
-
The night worked out precisely the way Kel had hoped it would. They found a handsome eating house with what seemed like certainly friendly clientele, and the prices were not so outrageous that anyone was holding his breath. There were gambling tables in a back room, and from where she sat at a table with the two men, Kel could hear roars of laughter and sociable banter.
However, the icing on the cake of the evening came when Buri appeared, looking a little frazzled and ready for companionship. Kel didn’t miss the way that Raoul’s eyes lit up when his wife entered the room, so she fixed a smile on her own face and encouraged Buri to sit.
For the next hour, the four of them – Raoul, Buri, Dom, and herself – exchanged stories that had the others doubled over in hilarity. For someone so determined to have a bad time at the beginning of the night, Dom was engaging in most of the conversation, and his fair-skinned face was flushed from a mixture of the wine and company.
“And that’s when Aiden goes, ‘But sir, that isn’t mine!’”
Raoul slapped his knee, wheezing with laughter, while Buri swiped at the corners of both her eyes. “You men,” she managed. “How can you live with each other the way you do?”
“Sometimes it’s hard,” Dom answered innocently, causing Raoul to snort again, and Kel didn’t know how it happened but suddenly they were back in the palace, in the hallway near the Goldenlake suite of rooms.
“Are we sure this is something we want to do?” someone gasps, and someone else says “Of course it is,” and that is that.
