Summary: Raoul wakes up
Kel couldn’t bring herself to speak as they dragged Raoul through the corridors to his rooms. She supposed it was partially due to exertion. Buri was red-faced as well—Kel hoped this was only due to fatigue.
About halfway up the stairs Raoul moaned, both women took this as a cue to let go and he thumped against the steps.
“Ow…” He pushed himself to his knees slowly and looked up—for once—at Kel and Buri.
“And how was your nap?” Buri inquired dryly.
“Are you really pregnant?” He blurted out.
Kel let her face fall into her palms, as Buri gave her husband a strange look.
“If Jon told you I’ll kill him, King or not.”
“Actually, I told him.”
Buri turned to stare a Kel, “Who told you?”
“I did,” Raoul said weakly. “We were—talking—and Kel figured it out… It’s true?”
Buri nodded.
Kel looked between the couple with conflicted feelings: Joy, of course. They would be wonderful parents. Jealousy, because over the course of the night she’d developed feelings somewhere for her old Knight Master that couldn’t be reciprocated.
