He stood at the end of the book case and watched her vain attempts at lifting herself higher. The muscles of her arms stretched and strained with her efforts. She was tall for a woman - and even for a man - but she still couldn't reach high enough to snag the book she wanted, especially with the extra weight of an almost-ready-to-be-born baby holding her down.
She felt his presence behind her and smiled over her shoulder at him. As always, the smoldering look in his dark eyes sent a thrill down her spine. She waited in anticipation as he sauntered over to her, reached up and plucked the desired book off the shelf. He'd done this before - in fact, many times during the three years they'd been married and more often since their unborn child had slowed her down.
She reached for the book, but he held it aloft and said, "You know the price for my assistance, love." Then he leaned down, kissed her smiling lips and pressed the book into her hands.
"I wish you wouldn't put my favorite books up so high," she complained, even as his arms gathered her into a warm embrace. "I'm sure you do it on purpose."
He smiled slyly and said, "Of course I do."
"You know I hate asking for help to get them down."
"Mmm hmm," Faleron murmured and kissed the soft skin behind her ear. Then he kissed a trail down the side of her neck and back up to her lips before whispering, "I just like to watch you when you're reaching for me, Kel."
