Title: 5. Hypothetical Syllogism Rating: G Length: 211 Competitor: Raoul Round/Fight: 2/A Summary: The application of hypothetical syllogism. Note: You may blame my philosophy exam for the following series. In fact, please blame that exam with every atom of your existence, enough so that it will award me an A out of guilt. Thanks in advance.

Lesson Four: Hypothetical Syllogism. If P then Q and if Q then R; therefore P then R.
Have you decided to stop denying what everyone else in this entire world would, without struggle, accept as the truth? Don’t ever think that I hadn’t intended to spread this story. I was married by then, youngling, and so I needed to live the single life vicariously through you – you are, after all, my best friend. Could you even begin to imagine the rumours that would have spread once a single mention had been dropped of your then-unknown secret affair? Yes, since you’re wondering, I do intend extract all amusement I may in this retelling of my superior deductive abilities.
If you don’t mind, I would like to continue. You may recall that previously, I had applied the method of denying to some great effect. Now this is where we begin to construct an argument of hypothetical syllogism.
The premise is simple. If you had intended to be sneaking away unnoticed, you would go to some place with restricted access for fear of getting caught. There was only one place in the camp with restricted access to civilians, and that place was headquarters. It therefore follows that if you had intended to be sneaking away, you would be going to headquarters.
I’m glad to see that we’re on the same page.

"restricted access" I could think of something else that would have "restricted access"!

It all came out a little redundant, but all the silent guilt-tripping of my exam did actually bring me an A! So thanks! And I thought that Neal would be an interesting point of view to take! Glad you like it.
